A Letter from Vivian
Hello, I'm Vivian, the artist and founder behind By Vivi Ami. For me, jewelry has never been just an accessory. It is a vessel for memory, a symbol of intention, and a catalyst for connection. This belief was seeded in my grandmother's bedroom, and it now blooms here, in my studio, with every piece I create for you.
The Seed: My Grandmother's Jewelry Cabinet
My earliest jewelry memories are rooted in my grandmother's magnificent cabinet, a towering piece of furniture that felt like a personal treasure chest. To me, it was a world of wonders, filled with stacks of bangles, strands of necklaces, elegant brooches, and her beloved collection of clip-on earrings.
Since neither of us had our ears pierced at the time, we would sit for hours, trying on her sparkling clip-ons while she told me the story behind each piece, where she wore it, who gave it to her, how it made her feel. In those moments, surrounded by the beautiful details she was so intentional about, we created our own little world. She taught me that jewelry is a language and a way to tell your story without saying a word.
The Journey: From a Seventh-Grade Side Hustle to a Sacred Craft
That early passion quickly became a pursuit. I started designing and selling jewelry to my friends and family in the 7th grade, discovering a profound joy in creating pieces for others to wear and love.
Years later, while working in a data-driven consulting role in the heart of New York City, I felt a deep need for a creative escape, especially during the uncertainty of 2020. I returned to my first love and founded By Vivi Ami. It began on Etsy with wire-working and gemstones, a peaceful anchor in a busy world.
But I wanted to go deeper. In early 2025, I dedicated myself to mastering the art of lost-wax casting. Now, every By Vivi Ami piece is created entirely in-house, from my initial concept sketch to melting the silver to the final hand-polish. By cutting out the middleman, I offer you a truly authentic connection to the artisan behind your jewelry.
The Inspiration: Peaceful Moments & Personal Stories
After five years in New York, I craved slowness and meaning. My work is now inspired by the very things that ground me: the soft, nostalgic memories of my grandmother, the peaceful silence of a morning, and the organic, imperfect forms found in nature.
This is also why I am so passionate about custom and personalized pieces. There is no greater honor than collaborating with you to create a unique heirloom that tells your story. A piece that, decades from now, will have a story of its own to tell.
